Our story

E kaabo

Welcome. Mídé is Yoruba for “I have arrived”, and that is exactly how we want every plate to feel.

Ayamase, the green ofada stew with assorted meats

The kitchen

Chef Centia

Proudly from Ikorodu, Lagos, Chef Centia carries the essence of Nigeria into every dish. Rooted in tradition yet crafted with finesse, her food embodies both authenticity and consistency.

There is a particular kind of cooking that cannot be rushed. The egusi that thickens slowly. The ofada stew whose peppers are ground, not blended. The jollof that earns its smoke at the bottom of the pot rather than from a bottle. That is the standard we hold ourselves to, every service.

We opened Mídé Lagos to bring the bold, vibrant flavours of Nigeria to the UK without softening them for anyone. No shortcuts, no compromises, just the food as it is eaten at home, cooked to order, in-house.

Our name is a promise as much as a greeting. When the plate lands in front of you, we want you to feel that something has arrived.

“The Best, Chosen by You!”

What we stand for

How we cook

Three things we will not move on.

  • Cooked to order

Nothing sits under a lamp. Your plate starts when your order does, which is why some dishes take a little longer, and why they taste like they should.

  • Sourced properly

Real palm oil, real crayfish, real ugu and waterleaf. The ingredients that make a dish Nigerian are the ones we refuse to substitute.

  • Seasoned for us

We do not tone down the pepper. If a dish is meant to be fiery, it arrives fiery, and we will always tell you which ones are.
